Volunteers

      ReBuild volunteers with all kinds of experience are needed. It's a great opportunity to meet other "green minded" folks and to help give back to your community by building environmentally awareness, learning more about homebuilding and repair, and provide critical service for a locally-based community non-profit organization training unskilled workers for a permanent career in a "green collar" occupation. Volunteers enable ReBuild to stretch its limited funds further during these tight economic times. Opportunities include:

Sustainability Workshop Coordinator --
Assists the Executive Director
Develops and maintains list of workshop topics
Contacts potential workshop presenters
Schedules workshop dates and venues
Manages workshop logistics
Conducts citizen surveys and workshop evaluations
Skills: knowledge of environmental sustainability, good communication, writing, computer, and people skills. Grant-writing abilities a plus.
   
Grants Writer --
Assists the Executive Director
Identifies governmental and foundation grants for ReBuild activities
Writes grants to secure funding from sources with Executive Director's approval
Collects data on grant-funded projects
Prepares grantor reports on projects' results
Skills: knowledge of environmental sustainability and job-training programs, grant-writing experience, ability to write well under tight deadlines, good people and communication skills, and ability to multi-task.
 
Volunteer Coordinator --
Assists the Executive Director
Assist in recruitment and screening of ReBuild volunteers
Track volunteer hours
Coordinate and maintain program record keeping
Skills: organizational, communication, computer, and people skills
   
Fundraising Coordinator --
Assists the Executive Director
Planning and coordinating fundraising events
Solicitation of individual and corporate donors
Grant writing
Skills: people and writing capabilities
   
Outreach and Community Relations --
Assists the Executive Director
Attend trade shows & community events
Promotes community sustainability workshops
Outreaches with civic associations and small businesses
Skills: Good organizational, communication, writing, computer, and people skills
   
Media Coordinator --
Assists the Executive Director
Provide all media (newspapers, cable TV, radio, web sites, etc.) with notices of upcoming productions, newsworthy events, and advertising.
Write press releases
Designs and writes ads for printed media, civic association email, and printed newsletters
Assists staff in developing & upgrading social media communications
Skills: Good organizational, communication, writing, social media, computer and people skills

Interns

      ReBuild is currently seeking college students to fill part-time and full-time non-paid internships. These internships will give qualified applicants the opportunity to investigate a career opportunity in the non-profit industry with hands-on experience prior to and after graduation.

      A minimum of 12 hours per week and a 3-month commitment are desirable. Flexible hours can be accommodated. Benefits include: potential job contacts, employer recommendation, and resume-building job experience.

Sample activities include:
- Assisting workshop speakers in setting up their presentations
- Preparing pictures and copy for the website and flyers
- Providing orientation for new volunteers
- Organizing volunteer appreciation and fundraising events
- And much more.
